Dairy Heifer School is a valuable experience for youth, parents, leaders, and agents of all skill levels. There are three days of intense instruction with as much hands-on learning as possible. We would like each participant to bring at least one heifer, but they may bring two. In order to keep the groups small, the number of applications is limited to the first 50 on a "first come, first served" basis.

Attendees must be in compliance with the 2014 New Mexico Livestock Board Guidelines for Livestock Exhibitors.

The subjects covered are:

  • Selection
  • Classification
  • Nutrition
  • Preparing for a fair
  • Care during a fair
  • Showmanship and Sportsmanship
  • Ethics

Registration is done online. Contact your local County Extension Office.
